Chloe Price

I think Chloe is really overlooked. A lot of people, especially people who don’t necessarily like the game, think of her as just this brash loud punk with blue hair who’s acting out and being rude. And that’s fine, like, some people think that’s cool too. But people don’t really look at the underlying issue, which is that she’s not just not letting it go.

Her father died. Her mother was kind of emotionally absent and then found another man and used his attention to get over her husband. But she lets him abuse Chloe. He surveils her, puts cameras up in their house, and Joyce just treats everything Chloe says as an overreaction.

Because later on Max mentions that David has been surveilling her the whole time and Joyce doesn’t even seem surprised. She believes her right away. But why didn’t she believe Chloe every single time she said so? It’s hard to be a parent of a child whose father died, but you have to be there. There’s no timeline on grief.

And people villainize Chloe so much for her anger, but like, you can imagine the kind of loss someone feels. Her character is so tragic when you actually look at it. Her father dies. They’re broke. Her best friend leaves. She makes a new best friend, one that she loves, one that loves her, one that she finds out maybe loved her but not as much as she loved her. And then she finds out that Rachel died too. And then she dies herself.

She doesn’t even know that part. But still. That just kind of sucks.
