The junkyard is supposed to be the fun part of the game. And I guess Chloe is having fun. But Max isn’t really, because everywhere she goes she’s reminded that Rachel Amber, the girl who replaced her, is gone. And that’s the whole point. Yes Chloe is excited to see Max, but at the end of the day her main mission is to ultimately get her girl back, her angel back, as she says. Just Rachel.
So you find the beer bottles, you find their shack, and you’re kind of reminded a lot that Max really did abandon Chloe. And then Frank shows up I shot him and there are no bullets and it’s just kind of embarrassing for Max.
But then Kate is on the roof. And the rewind doesn’t work.
And if you’re not that astute, maybe you missed some really obvious signs about her depression. But it’s easy to get absorbed, it really is. It’s easy to fall for the kind of charisma that Chloe has, and that’s the whole point of her character. Like, she’s not supposed to be there. It’s kind of the game telling you something is wrong. If Chloe wasn’t there, maybe it would have been much easier to remember everything about Kate, maybe she never would have gotten to that point because you would have just been present.
I managed to save her. I’ll admit I looked a couple things up because I just don’t want her to die. Maybe that’s another version of rewriting fate, like if I didn’t actually remember then maybe she would have had to go. But I just can’t let her die like that.
